Let’s make cheeseburgers
Whitney:
I’m hungry. I haven’t eaten all day.
John:
What do you want to eat? I am hungry, too.
Whitney:
I want a cheeseburger. Can you show me how to make one? You make really good cheeseburgers!
John:
Sure!
Whitney:
I have some ingredients for us.
John:
Really? Do you have hamburger buns?
Whitney:
Yes. I also have ground beef.
John:
What about condiments?
Whitney:
I have mustard, mayonnaise, ketchup, and sweet relish.
John:
Perfect! I happen to have some lettuce and tomatoes if you want some.
Whitney:
I think I will have a burger with special sauce and American cheese.
John:
Okay, cool. Let’s get everything prepped before we make the burgers.
Whitney:
What would you like me to do?
John:
You can make the special sauce while I toast the buns. Mix equal parts mustard, mayonnaise, ketchup, and sweet relish together in a bowl.
Whitney:
Okay.
John:
I will toast the buns with a little bit of butter.
Whitney:
The special sauce is ready. What do I do next?
John:
Crumble the ground beef on a cutting board and make a circle with the ground beef.
Whitney:
Do I add the egg yolk in the middle?
John:
Yes! Good memory! You should also drizzle some olive oil and sprinkle on some salt and pepper. Then, mix everything together and form two balls from the ground beef. Don’t pack the meat too tightly. I will get the pan ready.
Whitney:
What do we do next?
John:
Once the pan is hot, place a meat ball on the pan and then smash the ball into a patty. Cook the patty for a minute on each side. Then, add the cheese on top. Finally, turn off the heat and let the burger rest for a few minutes. Once the burger is cool, you can make your burger and eat it.
Whitney:
Sounds great! I can’t wait!
