Brett Cain was born just outside of Chicago and moved at thirteen to the small town of Sequim, Washington. He won a silver medal for boxing and competed in mixed martial arts. After serving as a missionary in Peru, Brett attended Southern Virginia University, where he founded the Ironclad Martial Arts club and studied Spanish and creative writing, which he continued to study during a summer semester at Brigham Young University. He has lived a lot of what he writes and even skipped his finals to aide in the search of a missing little girl. Brett changed his focus from ultimate fighting to writing when he started a family and is working to become a police officer. He lives in Olympia, Washington, with his wife, Madelynne, and their daughter, Josephine.
