ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

To start, I would like to give my deepest thanks to the talented, inspiring, and extremely candid women who opened up and shared their journeys for this book, so that the generations of women who come after us have a better chance to “find their bliss” and grow their value. You gave me the courage to do the same.

I would like to thank Susan Gregory Thomas, my writing partner for this book, for collaborating with me and helping me tell this story in a way that was raw and real. Our differences and similarities on both the professional and personal levels gave this book the depth and authenticity that exceeded even my own expectations.

Being public about family dynamics is never easy, and I will forever be in awe of my husband, Jim, for his strength in letting me share our story (warts and all), and his unwavering devotion to our family.

To our beautiful daughters Emilie and Carlie, who challenge, amaze, inspire, and motivate me every day. You are the reason I never give up.

A huge thank you to Susu Castellanos, because without you I would not have been able to grow my value and our future. You are a true mother, sister, and friend.

I am so grateful that the amazing women at Weinstein Publishing—Amanda Murray, Georgina Levitt, and Kathleen Schmidt—stuck with me throughout the process to create a book we are all proud of and excited to share. And thanks to my editor, Leslie Wells.

David Steinberger, what can I say? Four books later, you still believe in me.

Maria Gronda, Rashna Shetty, and Daniela Pierre Bravo, three exceptional millennials who I am lucky to have on my staff, volunteered to schedule and transcribe these interviews on top of their already demanding schedules. I know that all three of you know your value. I look forward to watching all three of you grow.

To my manager, Emily Cassidy, who made the execution of Grow Your Value her baby, I would not have been able to finish this without you. You went above and beyond on all aspects of this writing process and saved the day one time too many. This is your calling . . . Let’s answer it in your next step.

And to my mother: I love you, Bamba. Thank you for letting me be one of your trees.
