My family bought this Chevy truck new in 1948; I remember it was late summer because we chopped off corn with a corn knife and laid the stalks across the frame. I was 16 and it was just right for double-dating, stick shift and all. We had a family farm in Lu Verne, Iowa, but not many farmers had a truck at that time and it was certainly unique for a kid my age to use a truck. I remember we’d load the back with kids to go to the movies, and I went to my first football game in it. My wife and I have used this truck every single time we’ve moved. It’s carried us everywhere, an old friend that holds a lot of memories.
