It’s the details that make the clothing of ready-to-wear designers unique. Study them…and then do it yourself! Here are some looks we’ve seen in the stores.
If you would like to make minor design changes or create a look you can’t find in the pattern books, it is as easy as drawing a line! Create any design line by cutting the pattern and adding seam allowances. Sew the new seam and you have an instant design line.
For pants that form-fit your derriere (great if you are flat in back), cut through center of dart to hemline. Add seam allowances.
Draw a straight or curved line. Fold dart out of yoke before cutting fabric; add seam allowances.
Draw an upside down “V” at knee in front and back (great for leather and suede, real or synthetic). Add seam allowances.
A fun idea for summer cottons, evening pants, jeans, and children’s clothes. Cut pattern, add seam allowances. Cut sections out of various colors of fabrics and seam together.
