Allie reached across Derek to steal the umbrella from his ridiculous fruity drink. She stuck it in her hair and stuck out her tongue at him. He laughed. They’d been at the pool at the Bellagio all day.
“See, Vegas is not just a town full of sin and show girls!” Allie teased.
“Food is better than Disneyland. But not as many rides!” Derek complained, his big grin undermining his complaint. Allie was happy there was only one. She’d thrown up on their last anniversary trip after riding rides all day followed by an eight-course dinner. This year was going to be a lot gentler. “Wait until you see ‘O’! It’s the only Cirque du Soleil I haven’t seen.”
“What time is it? Do we need to get ready?” he asked.
“I don’t know. I left my phone in my room.”
Derek got up and came over to her bench. “Not worried?”
“They’ve got my back.”
“Then I can have your front.” He leaned over and kissed her. Leisurely.
