OK, I admit it. This hat is not for everyone. But for any fun-loving, extroverted, and one-of-a-kind person, this is ideal. Go really crazy and add bells to the tassel! This is one of the longer, more time-consuming projects in this book, but so worth the time and effort involved.
Spud and Chloe Fine (80% wool, 20% silk; 248 yds/227m per 2.3 oz/65g ball) or similar super fine weight yarn in colors:

Rnd 1: With MC and starting with magic lp technique, ch 2; 12 dc in ring. Join with a sl st to first dc. (12 dc)
Rnds 2–4: Ch 2; dc in each st around. Join with a sl st to first dc.
Rnd 5: Ch 2; *dc in next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st. Rep from * around. Join with a sl st to first dc. (15 dc)

Weave in all ends. Make tassel body from CC2 approximately 6" (15.2cm) long. Wrap with CC1 multiple times. Use six 12" (30.5cm) strands of MC for attaching to hat. Braid these before attaching. Attach tassel to hat tip.
