Every man should have a classic beanie. The basic design and unlimited color choices allow you infinite creativity. The design includes a unique technique for creating the vertical stripe: unlike most hats, you will turn your work at the end of each round. Make sure you continue with the color changes to achieve the desired look.

Magic Loop technique: See Stitch Glossary for details.
Ch 1 at beg of rnd does not count as a hdc.
Make ch 1 at beg of rnd loosely and pull to the height of a hdc.
Turn at the end of each rnd, unless stated otherwise in the pattern.
Always work CC1 in CC1 sts and never into MC sts. Do not continue color changes in last 2 rnds.
When working color changes you have two choices: 1) keep unused yarn ends on WS of work or 2) cut ends, being sure to leave enough to weave in.
