Prologue

Jas walked across the Ops compound and smiled at all the members and families she ran across. She didn’t have time to stop and talk like usual because, finally, fucking, finally she had a mission from the Furies/Satan’s Sisters, it was a simple delivery and pickup, but still, it was her first assignment. She knew they had already checked to make sure it wouldn’t be dangerous; God knows what would happen if she got hurt, her mother would fucking flip the hell out. It was like she was a crystal fucking wounded bird or something. She knew they didn’t think she was completely helpless, they were just protective, but they just didn’t understand it was her time now. Jas loved her parents, but they were going to need to back off and let her make her own mistakes.

Her parents were a force to be reckoned with, especially her mother. She was a legend in the biking world, and not for being gorgeous even though she was. No, it was because she was who she was. Shady took responsibility for all her actions and apologized to no one. She was a badass, a leader, a killer, a mother, a sister to her Lady Riders, Shady was all of that and so much more. And Jas wanted to be like her, well not exactly like her, ‘cause that would be just creepy. Ever since Shay had rescued her from a horrifying situation because of her idiot biological father, grandfather and grandmother were completely psycho had led her into the shit situation. Shady had been her rock. Even when they sent her to another club for her safety, Jas always knew she could call her mother, and she would bust her ass to do whatever needed to be done in order to help her. Or just to talk her down when she had been frustrated with being away from home.

The Furies MC and Satan’s Sisters were both filled with ex-military. She had been claimed by the Ops Warriors and Lady Riders, where the men had been ex-military as well. Growing up, she had learned a lot of shit, and she had been engrained with what the soldiers had sacrificed. But Jas wanted to make her own name, be her own person, not Shady’s daughter. So, although Jas was not one, they accepted her to The Satan’s Sisters because of her training by the Lady Riders and the Ops. She didn’t want to toot her own horn, but she could kick some ass if needed. Hell, she had even almost taken down her mom, but of course, Shady had fought dirty.

When the Furies and the Sisters got out of the military, all they wanted was a quiet life, but it wasn’t meant to be. They had been doing missions for the government for a while. There was a man who was leaking information about undercover operatives, and other classified people, and he was proving to be a pain in the ass, and a huge security risk for the entire country, so far, he had not leaked anything they couldn’t handle. Most of the people put in danger had something to do with one of the clubs. The Furies thought they knew who it was because of this. However, they were wrong, and now they knew the leak went much deeper than they thought, high government positions using people as pawns for some unknown reason. But they were going to find out, the Furies and the Sisters were committed to this cause because it affected all of them. All they needed was a little more information, and they would have what they needed, and thankfully, the info was leading them overseas, which is where she got this mission.

She was excited since it was overseas, renting a bike and riding around Europe was gonna be a fucking blast. They had all agreed if they were being watched, one they thought she would be a sitting duck, and two she needed to appear like she was on vacation instead of a mission. To be honest, no one thought Jas was on their radar, which is the third reason she had been chosen. But she was not going to be alone, Maxi was overseas already picking up her uncle, he would be tailing her, but he wouldn’t get in her way.

It was time for her to spread her wings. A few meetings, a drop and grab, and she was out. They needed this information from someone still overseas in the military, and Jas knew it was one more piece of the puzzle to taking down these murdering bastards. She had known since the beginning what was happening with the Furies, and the Sisters, and she had opted to join them as well as staying with the Ops and the Lady Riders because she knew it was something that needed to be done. She wanted to be a part of something like that, something that would help, be productive, instead of babysitting her brother. So, she had four clubs that claimed her, but on her cut, the largest patch was the Sisters. Finally, they had given her a choice, and she chose the Sisters. Aunt Harmony had been pissed at first, telling her none of the Sisters understood what Jas had gone through, and Doc, the leader of the Sisters, had butted in and argued for her. Jas had been thrilled to be given a choice. That was all she wanted to prove she could deal with being a biker bitch. You had to be all in around here because sometimes they had to step over the line to get what they needed.

Trey was a part of the Furies, and he may not be the love of her life like she thought, he was still like a brother to her as were all the Furies, which made the switch simple. She would do anything to help them; her mother taught her that it was the reason you were in a club. You protected what was yours, and in this case, it meant the men and women of all four clubs.

Jas had bright fuchsia hair, which she loved and had done every month to keep the vibrant color. She was lean, like her mother, and was built like her, which meant she had the tits and ass that men looked at and was tall standing at five feet ten. Jas rarely was looked down on by men, though, and she intimidated most of the men she dated. This really didn’t bother her since the men she had met recently were dogs, and she had no room for playing games. She needed to get perspective on her love life. She knew she had been childish about her crush on Trey, and honestly, she could have seriously held onto that, but in her heart, she knew it was not the real thing. And she wanted the real thing. Her arms were covered in tats, and she didn’t give a shit. Her dads said she got her attitude on life from her mother; Jas was glad of that, if she could be a quarter of the woman her mother was, she would be happy.

She lived with the Sisters now, in a kick-ass apartment she had decorated, but that didn’t mean she wasn’t over at her old home almost every day. But she had never talked club business with them because she had never gone on a mission, she had been support. Now she had to tell her overprotective mother and stepfathers the details of where she was going, and she was sure it was not going to go down well. Even if it wasn’t dangerous, and just a drop and grab. Shady was going to make a big deal of it. Hence, why Jas had joined the Sisters; she had not wanted to be coddled as the Lady Riders would do.

Since she was born, Jas had a black cloud hanging over her. She knew, and so did everyone else, the shit from her childhood and past was utterly deranged, and she had gotten past it with some therapy and her family, her whole family, the Ops, the Furies, the Lady Riders, and now the Satan’s Sisters. Now they were going to have to forget the little girl and remember she is a woman now. She looked down at herself and nodded to herself. She was in her new gear, her black cargo pants, biker steel-toed boots, and a tank that said ‘Go Fuck Yourself’ on it.

Jas walked up to her parents’ house and heard yelling and screaming inside from her younger brother and apparently everyone else’s kids. Great, the Lady Riders were all here, not going to be good, she thought as she opened the door and walked into the main living room of her parents’ house.

“There she is, our baby girl,” Cajun yelled loudly and then came over to hug her. He whispered in her ear, “Dear God, help us, they have been here for fucking ever, and I really need to work on my bike.”

Jas laughed and shook her head while she pulled back and said, “On your own, pops.”

Then Slider came up and grabbed her and a hug and whispered, “Please, for the love of God make them leave.”

Jas laughed and turned to the main room where all the Lady Riders were sitting and talking loudly over each other. “Bitch, I am saying you need to figure out the whole birth control thing before you have like fifty kids, and your boobs are sagging.” Harmony said to Bob, who snapped back.

“You whore, this is only our second child.”

“Yeah, but Bear said he wants an army of them,” Freedom pointed out.

“Well, this uterus is closed for the time being. Two is just enough, one girl, one boy, and we are good,” Bob snapped.

“When is my bike going to be done?” Her mother asked Sofia.

“Any day, just have the custom mufflers to put on.”

“WHAT? HE WAS SMOKING DOPE IN THE BATHROOM!?” Rain yelled, talking on the phone to someone. They ran a safe house, and every once in a while, they needed to watch what the residents were up to. Having drugs would get you kicked out of the program, and their program was to give abused people a new life away from everything. “That was my kid; I would be mopping up the floor with him, I swear, some of the newer people with teens need to lock their shit uptight. Fine, I will come in and talk to the mother.” She hung up the phone and turned to the group and said, “I know we are helping people and doing a good, thing, these women are traumatized and their kids doing stupid shit does not help. I will be back.”

It was a perfect time, her dads were here, her mother was distracted, and she could make her announcement and then get the fuck out of here. She moved towards her mother, Shady was amazing, when they rescued her from that disgusting shed, Jas had been in awe of the woman. Shady was where she got her strength, she didn’t take shit from anyone, and she protected her family, the Lady Riders, the Sister’s, the Furies, and the Ops Warriors with everything in her. No one would hurt their family and go unpunished. The four clubs were basically one working together, yet apart. It was strange, and they were the only club of their kind Jas knew of. She didn’t care, hell no one cared. Their reputation demanded respect, and it was given to them time and time again. The clubs had contacts all over the world and could get almost anything. Once Jas asked to ride on Air Force One, but they couldn’t make that happen.

Jas loved her mother with everything in her, knowing what she went through before and after Jas had been taken from, her strength only made her love her more. Jas loved the club, loved the feeling of family, and felt the same way as her mother, and she was the only member of all four clubs. A voting member at that, being a prospect for the Sister’s had kinda sucked, she did a lot of boring shit, but she also knew it was important grunt work. Now was her time; she just had to tell her mother. She took a deep breath and said loudly, hoping against hope; the other voices would drown her out.

“Welp, I got my first mission for the Sisters. I am going overseas to deliver something, for the Sister’s, I leave tomorrow,” Jas said firmly.

The room immediately was silent, and as one, they turned and stared at her. Damn it, she hated when they did that scary shit, it was like they shared the same brain or something. On more than one occasion she had seen them do this, it freaked her out.

Shady stood slowly and stared at her eldest child, the one she had missed so much with, her first word, her first step; it pissed Shady right the fuck off it had been taken from her. Since she had gotten her back though, Shady had made up for the lost time. She had kept her daughter close at first, barely allowing her to leave her sight. Her dads were the same, it didn’t matter where she came from, it was who claimed her, and that was Cajun and Slider. There were no other men she would ever call dad. No other woman she would call mom. She was theirs, and someone was going to put her on a mission without discussing it with her. Doc better have a good fucking reason, or she was gonna kick that pregnant ass.

“You had better be fucking with me,” Shady said slowly.

Jas sighed and looked at her mother in the eye and said, “No, I am not fucking with you. You knew this would happen, and you said you were okay with it. I am a Sister I belong to their club just as much as yours, I made the same commitment, and you know it.”

Everyone in the room looked from Jas to Shady; it was like a tennis match with everyone changing their focus to watch this scene play out. Shady pointed the finger at her and said, “I also said you needed to learn the ropes before you do anything. You know what they do, we all know with what is going on with the Furies, as well as the Sisters, this shit could be dangerous. What are you gonna do if shit goes sideways, ‘cause we know for a fucking fact with our group, shit is going to go sideways? There is no way around it. So, you are walking into a fucking mess before you even leave.”

Heads turned, and Jas sighed and shook her head. “It is a new mission, it is simple, things are not going to go sideways. Literally, it is the easiest mission in the history of missions.”

“Yeah, and Bus is overseas, don’t think I don’t pay attention to shit,” Shady snapped. “Are you going to help them? ‘Cause that is so not happening.”

Jas shook her head. “No, this is for something else, and I was going to stop and help Finley get his shit packed up so he can get back here quicker. But instead, he is coming to London with Maxi and Easy to hang out.”

Shady growled, “That is your first mistake, seen hanging out with friends and family in the middle of a mission could get you killed. You know Maxi and Easy are well known, you being with them will certainly tell anyone looking who you are.”

Jas almost screamed, her mother was going to drive her nuts, she couldn’t make decisions for her anymore. She was an adult damn it. “Okay, let me put it this way. I have a package to deliver, and then I will be taking time and driving across Europe on a bike I have already rented, so I will be gone for about a month. At the end of my drive, I will pick up a package and bring it back. Nothing exciting. But it will give me a chance to visit my uncle, I will be visiting other clubs that the Sisters know, and I will see you when I get back.”

The vibe in the room changed, and then Slider clapped his hands. “Okay, so party over, if you could all just file out while we play out our family drama that would be awesome.”

Harmony glared at him and said, “This is family business, so we stay.”

“I don’t want to call…” Slider said, slowly thinking he could use their men to get them out of here; he should have known better.

“Call them; they will be here in a New York minute to listen to this shit. You know as well as I do, she is an Ops and Lady Rider first, they will want to make sure she is safe just like us,” Harmony said, never taking her eyes off his.

Jas closed her eyes, well shit, her dad tried, but this was going to be played out in front of everyone, and damn it, she hated it when that crap happened. Harmony will get pissed, Freedom will cry, Bob will tell her to get laid, and the rest of them would be a mixture of them all. In the end, Jas was still going where she needed to go, and her mother was going to need to fucking deal with it. Jas was way older than her age, after the shit she had seen, and for God's sake, she had been shot, how could she not be more mature than normal chicks her age. And she was twenty-one damn it; the Lady Riders need to back the fuck off.

“Conversation over,” Jas said firmly and stood up straighter.

For a time, her mom and the others thought Jas and Trey were going to get together. But that was so not happening, because even though she had a crush on him, she now thought of him as a brother, and he treated her like a sister. Because of the smothering from the club, she was so ready to just strike out there on her own and yeah, probably get laid by a sexy Frenchman or a man from Italy. Jas had to hide every relationship, or it would end up just like the first date she had ever gone on. The guy had practically pissed his pants, seeing her dad’s. Shit, she was scared as fuck to even talk to her mother about the first time she had sex with a boy. They all still thought she was a virgin, but she was sooooo not. Hell, according to her fathers, she was gonna be a virgin on her wedding night. She didn’t want to break their delusions; it was too adorable.

“Oh really, so where are you going, if I may ask?” her mother said sarcastically.

“Okay,” Cajun said, holding up his hands. “Since we are doing this, then Slider and I get our say as well. We talked about this when she joined the Sisters; we trust Doc, we know she would not send out Jas unless she was trained, and we all know she is trained because we did half of it ourselves. She is ready; you made her ready.”

Slider nodded and grabbed Jas around the waist and pulled her to him and looked down at her and said, “If we didn’t think you could take care of yourself, we would have handcuffed you to your mother a long time ago.”

Shady rolled her eyes sighed loudly, and looked at her best friends. They had been through a lot, and she trusted them all with her life, with her child’s life, and they met her eyes with resignation that Shady really didn’t want to see. Damn it all to hell; she didn’t have a choice. She looked up at the ceiling and let out a loud roar and then looked back down to see no one had moved at all. “Sorry, tension release.”

Jas laughed, she knew her mom, and she knew this meant she was going to be okay with Jas going and doing what she had to do. Hell ya, a month in Europe on a bike, too fucking cool.

“Now,” Shady said calmly and looked at her men. “Make sure she is set with phones, and whatever other gadgets she is going to need if shit goes down.” Her men nodded, and then she turned to Harmony. “Call whoever you have to call and make sure they have her suited up when she lands.” Harmony nodded and picked up her phone, and then she turned to Jas.

“If you get in trouble, call,” Shady said to Jas, and she nodded. “If you don’t come back with all your limbs, I will kill you.”

“Nice thought ma,” Jas drawled, and Shady smiled.

“I totally could have sent one of your dads with you.”

Jas paled a little, and then Bob laughed loudly. “Oh yeah, she plans on getting some over there. Good girl, you can tell us all about it when you get back.”

Shady turned and glared, and Bob continued, “Of course without your mom present cause that would just be sick and weird. Uh, in fact, I take it back, do not go and get laid in Europe; in fact, make sure you don’t look at any men at all.”

Slider stopped at the door and turned around. “The hell you say, she is still a virgin.”

Shady grinned and said to her men, “No, she isn’t, that boy from the beach a few years ago is the one who broke that cherry.”

Fuck, Jas’s eyes widened, how the fuck had she known that Jas had not told a single soul, she didn’t want the boy to disappear suddenly. She would have felt bad.

Both men stopped and turned and looked at their daughter. Jas shook her head and smiled, “No, she is messing with you.”

“No, I am not,” Shady said slowly. “I sent Bear to watch over you for that date.”

“OMFG, are you serious, he watched us?” Jas snapped.

“Hell no,” Harmony yelled. “He called back here to report, and Bob told him to back off and just let her be. Then we told your mom, and she went for the knives, so we had to handcuff her to the stove, so she didn’t leave.”

“I remember that boy,” Cajun said with a dangerous voice.

“He moved to Canada,” Jas said quickly.

“It is like when we found out Christmas wasn’t real,” Slider said sadly and walked to his daughter and grabbed her in a hug.

“And the Easter Bunny, Leprechauns, and the Tooth Fairy all in one day,” Cajun said and wrapped his arms around Slider and Jas, both soundly like they were going to cry at any moment.

“Don’t worry,” Bob said, waving her hand. “Harmony made sure he knew the score.”

Jas glared at Bob. “What?”

Harmony laughed and said, “He moved to Canada because I told him when I saw him in the US again, I was going to kill him.”

“No,” Jas groaned, and her dads squeezed her more.

“No, how do you feel about your baby going overseas alone?” Shady said dryly.

Jas rolled her eyes and then said, “Aunt Bob, I can’t promise a damn thing.”

“Oh, fuck no,” both men yelled.
