She stepped off the plane with a grin. She was here, in London, a place she never thought she would be able to go. Jas wanted just to throw her bags down and get to exploring, but she knew she had something to do first, the reason why she came. The Sister’s needed something delivered to one of their contacts. Jas totally didn’t tell her mother what she was doing. Sure, she was taking a package for the Sisters, but the package was not just anything. It was something they had been working on for a long time — away to draw out the people who were fucking with the Furies and the Sisters. Apparently, there was only one man who could get the information they wanted, the problem was, he was hard to find, as in, he was off the grid most of the time. Doc had finally gotten him to agree to a meet to pick up a thumb drive and then pick it up a few weeks later.
She walked down the hallway at the airport, and when she exited, she saw her uncle instantly, which was weird for her to say since he was a few months younger than she was. Seriously, it was strange, and it took Jas a while to come to terms with the fact her wicked ass grandma had had another child and taken care of him like she should have her mother. But after knowing Finley for a short time, she realized that he had been sheltered completely. Not like her and her mom; instead, he led a normal life, like totally normal even though his mom was a fucking psychopath, it was crazy he had not been corrupted, or a psychopath it could have gone either way really.
The best part was, he wanted to get to know Shady and the family, and he was totally into the whole biking thing, which is why he was moving to the compound. The only thing was getting used to his accent; he could totally be a badass with an English accent, like James Bond or something; he just needed to work on it. Jas knew the girls at the club were going to be all over him when he arrived. It had been quite a while since they had seen Finley, after the drama shit, Finley returned to England to finish his schooling and had just graduated from The University of Oxford, in Oxford England, with a degree in Chemistry. She wished she had time to actually go and see the University. However, she was on a tight schedule, and it was an hour and a half away. So, they were staying in a hotel tonight so they could hang out. Jas knew Maxi and Easy were here to get him back to the Ops compound without an issue; it should be entertaining observing him in this element.
Even though the wicked witch of the west was dead, a.k.a, her grandmother and Finley’s mother, still there were people out there that wanted revenge on some of the shit she had done. If they knew about Finley, they would go after him, as it was, Shady was taking most of the heat. However, she was a badass bitch who no one wanted to fuck with, so a lot of the idiots had already backed off.
Jas smiled and ran to him, yelling loudly, “FIN-FIN.”
Her uncle's face turned red, but he caught her. He was taller than she was, but she had more muscles. “Jas!” he laughed when she hit him.
“It is good to see you,” he said while he hugged her. Jas leaned back and released his shoulders and smiled. He grabbed the bag off her shoulder, the only one she had packed since she was traveling on only had a bike. Her dads had taught her how to roll clothes instead of folding them because it gives you more room. They learned it in the military, they were right, she had a ton of room when all was said and done. Even if she had to buy a second bag for shit, she bought, she would still have room on the flight home.
Easy smiled and grabbed her in for a hug and whispered in her ear. “I got a strange phone call from your dad’s, why am I supposed to make sure you make yourself ugly for this mission. Apparently, they think no one will talk to someone who looks homeless.”
She laughed and shook her head. “No reason, you have to ignore them.”
“You guys, are you packed and ready to go yet?” She asked as she turned and began walking.
“Yes, and I also have your bike right out front gassed and ready to go. Shady called to make sure it was here. She said to tell you to make sure you make your check in’s or they will send Harmony after you.” Easy smirked, and Jas rolled her eyes.
“Yes, umbilical cord not stretching far enough apparently.” She drawled, and Finley laughed.
“Well, I hope you have enough time to at least stay for a night so we can have dinner tonight?” Finley said, and she nodded.
“Yep, leaving first thing in the morning for the first meet and then onward from there,” Jas said, and Finley swung his arm over her shoulder and nodded.
“I am so ready to show you around, come on, let’s get out of here, and meet my babysitter and we can all go out for a time today. There are some things you must see in London, and I am going to make sure you see them. This county is amazing; just wait and see.”
They walked out to the front of Heathrow Airport, and Jas grinned as she saw the car that Finley had waiting. “Seriously? A Mini Cooper?”
“Hey, gets great gas mileage plus, it moves in and out of traffic much better than a full-sized. Your bike is just up around the corner in a parking spot, Maxi is waiting with it and the SUV I already rented. Trust me, Maxi will be driving with me.”
Easy snorted, “And the SUV I already rented is waiting as well. Trust me, Maxi will be driving with me. I will meet you there; it is right around the corner.”
The duo watched as Easy walked down the sideway and around the corner. And Fin snorted. “I believe they are a bit put out with my car, and all of the girls at the college fawning over them.
Jas laughed loudly and said, “Hahaha, Fin, you should have known that was coming. Maxi and Easy in a Mini Cooper? Seriously? Did you get pictures?”
Finley blushed and shrugged. “No, on the pictures, they threatened to kill me. Yeah, it was a bit of a battle, but they both finally gave in.”
“How did you manage that?” Jas said, and she got into the passenger’s seat on the opposite side of the car she was used to.
“Had a little help from my sister,” Finley said, and Jas laughed loudly.
“Bet that went over well.”
He shrugged and then pulled out into traffic and drove around the corner to where the parking was. She could see Maxi and Easy from a mile off; they kinda looked out of place wearing their cuts, jeans, and a frown. Easy must have left his in the car instead of wearing it into the airport. It would have put a target on all their backs if he did. Here, no one could really see them. Yeah, I bet they fit right in here, she thought with a smile and shook her head when they pulled up where her rental Harley was parked.
Jas jumped out of the car and whistled. “Whoa, nice bike has all the bells and whistles, I bet.”
Maxi grinned and walked to her and pulled her into a hug. “It is not your custom bike, but yeah, has all the bells and whistles, including a tracking app, which your mother has already hooked up. Don’t try to disable it; it won’t work.”
She pulled back and then kissed Maxi on the cheek and said, “Thanks,” then she turned to get a good look at the bike, which was all black, except for a bright red flame on the tank running on both sides. A Sportster, which would work well for her, she checked out the gauges and saw it had only fifty-five miles on it. Nice, it was brand new. She ran her hand over the seat, checked the saddlebags for room, and looked at the bag Finley pulled out of the back of the car. Yeah, she would need to strap it to the back after she pulled some things out for the saddlebags. Just a little rearranging, and all would be good.
“Well,” Easy said and smiled at her. “Finley here has a plan for the day, so we should get to the hotel and get our stuff sorted, or he will have a coronary. He has been planning today since you called to say you were coming.” She leaned up and kissed Easy on the cheek too.
Jas pulled back and nodded and then held out her hands for the keys to the bike. Maxi flipped them to her, and she sighed when they hit her hand, this was real, she was really in England, and she was really going to be doing this, it was fucking awesome. Of course, she had a little business to take care of, but it was nothing huge, just a few meets, and all was good.
Maxi and Easy got into the SUV, and Finley got into the mini cooper, and she threw her jean-clad leg over the seat of the bike and settled on it for a minute getting the feel of it and grinning big when she turned on the engine, the bitch purred like a kitten, she thought and then took the handlebars and looked behind her and nodded to Maxi as they moved so she could pull behind them.
She was in England, riding a badass bike and going to have some fun with her uncle and Maxi, life could only be better if the whole club were here. But she would settle for what she could get.
Her wrist began to ring, and she looked at her watch, thankfully she was still wearing her earpiece. She clicked on the button and said, “Yeah, I am here.”
She knew it was Doc and probably Fling. She also knew Harmony’s father Fish was probably close and would be reporting to her mother, ‘cause that is how shit went with the clubs. They lived right next to each other, with only a fence with a gaping space between them. They had fought together and had mourned together; because of this, they were close.
“We had a slight change in plans,” She heard. Fling say into her ear, and she frowned. That was never good.
“Okay, what is the change?” She asked as she followed Fin and really hoped it would not change their day together.
“Instead of a meet, you are going to be picking up another rider, and they will be going to the meet with you and will accompany you home. He is using the cover as your husband, IDs have already been processed, so they are ready. You will meet him tomorrow and go from there.”
“Why the change,” she asked and looked around her as she rode.
“Because we asked him to cover you at the meet, and now the fuckers know what he is doing. Someone tried to kill him last night, and he escaped. So, this mission is not going to be as easy as thought. We don’t know if you are compromised, but with Easy and Maxi still in-country if needed, and your new husband, you are covered,” Fling said and then paused before dropping the real bomb. “The Ops offered Maxi to go instead of you because he was there, and you could accompany your uncle home safely. But I convinced them to let you and Dax do the drop without too much fuss. This guy is skittish as shit, and we need that info. They agreed with the plan.”
Oh, hell to the no, she thought, her mother had already caught wind out this and gave the Furies this option. But there was no way she was letting this mission slip out of her fingers. This was her opportunity to really prove herself, and she was not giving it up.
She remained silent, and then Fling said, “We already have Dax’s cover in place with you, so we would prefer to keep it that way. I am giving you the option to stay or come home because it will be a little bit more difficult. You are going to need to remain out of sight for a while in order to let the heat die down. You were planning a trip anyway; he could tag along so you could get your story straight and have your ride time.”
Jas still remained silent and waited, thinking, and then finally said, “Yeah, makes sense, it will be cool.”
“You are meeting, Lt. Dax Murphy retired. He is one of Doc’s contacts and solid. We blew his cover, so we need to cover his ass, he is coming from Germany where he had been in the SEALS until he was discharged medically. He will meet you at the café at your hotel first thing in the morning. Once you seem him, you will know him,” Fling said, and Jas rolled her eyes. They always said that shit about the men they knew or worked with. But it wasn’t that simple, she had lived around serious badasses. It basically meant there was going to be a guy with a lot of testosterone and a buff ass body with a scary look on his face, thank God he was old; he was retired, so he had to be around Fling's age anyway. Jas had gotten used to that the day she had been rescued since all the Ops Warriors had the same expression.
“Okay, well, am I supposed to follow the same track I was going to take, or do I need to change it?” She asked briskly as she changed lanes to follow her uncle.
“Your route should still be fine, but if anything happens, make sure you have a way to get the fuck out of any place you are at,” Fling said, and Jas smiled.
“Like I don’t already have that plan drilled in my head by my mom and dad’s.” Jas snapped, and then her eyes widened as she saw the hotel her uncle and Easy were pulling into. Well holy shit, she thought, going for the comfort and style apparently.
Jas had already booked places on her trip she was taking when the mission was complete; obviously, that was not changing, but the hotels were not nearly as nice as this. Hell, compared to this, they were close to a roach motel.
They pulled up to the entrance, and she drove through the valet and parked her bike in the lot, and then moved to where Maxi, Easy, and Fin were standing waiting for her. “Come on,” Fin said. “You have enough time to dump your shit and clean up before we go.”
Jas smiled and shook her head. “Yeah, yeah, I am moving my ass. I have to stop and grab some hair dye, just in case I need it.”
Maxi was looking around like someone was going to pop out at them, and his head turned quickly, and he said, “Repeat that last part.” He was slightly overprotective right now, mostly because he was an Ops Warrior, and being part of that club meant you never let your guard down, but also because of who she was. Hell, after all the shit they had gone through, truly it is surprising they have not all bought an island and moved to it so they wouldn’t have contact with the outside world. Jas knew it had been brought up by Bob, and they were still thinking about it.
“Uh yeah, repeat that last part again,” Easy said, and Jas grimaced, she figured her mother had already filled them in. Apparently, they only got the basics.
Jas held out her hand and said, “Listen, guys, it is under control, my cover is not blown, so don’t worry.”
“Are you shitting me right now?” Maxi growled and looked around, then grabbed her arm and pulled her into the hotel. “How do you know?”
“Because Fling told me, the man I am meeting had his cover blown, but apparently, he had another and is safe, meeting me here and then we will be off. We won’t stay in one place for too long. I have already had the lectures,” she said carefully, and then Easy pulled out his phone and called someone. Jas figured it was Creed, or he was going directly to Fling.
Maxi ran a hand through his hair, and Fin was looking around, alert for anyone who seemed to look at their group for too long. Easy was only on the phone for a short while when he turned back and said grimly.
“Creed said Fling had it under control. They have several assets here if needed,” Easy said.
“Well, one of us could go with them, and the other with Fin,” Maxi growled.
Easy shrugged, “According to Creed, everyone knows we are here, we may hurt her more than help her if she is seen with us. We have too many enemies over here. Hell, I think I still have like six arrest warrants across Europe, and it would seriously suck to get nabbed on those. I would for Jas, but I would like to avoid it.”
Maxi swore under his breath, “I have a fuck of a lot more that you, pretty sure there is at least one or more Middle Eastern country who would pay some big bucks to have me in their jails. Shit.”
Jas grinned, “You totally need to tell me some of these stories, ‘cause the ones you told had to be watered down.”
“Yeah, well, you don’t need to be told anything that will give you ideas,” Easy said, and then Fin said.
“Well, if there is no change, let’s go out and spend the rest of the day as tourists.” The four nodded.
They checked her in, and then they went to see the sights. The entire time none of them noticed that someone was watching them. And later, they would find out the men who were watching them had followed Jas all the way from San Diego. Which meant the threat was closer than any of them imagined.
