Dax opened his eyes and saw the barrel of a gun pointed directly between his eyes. He leaned slightly and saw the woman he had only seen on a screen standing there glaring at him. Jesus, what is with these people and the shotguns?
“Okay, Hoss, what did I say? One hair,” Shady snapped, and Dax sucked in a breath. Shit, she was serious, he thought.
Jas rolled over and grabbed the barrel and said, “Mom, knock it off, we had a long day yesterday.”
“Yeah?” Shady snapped. “Well, so did I. Your fathers were driving me up the fucking wall, pacing and shit. I swear it was like they were handmaids with the way they were wringing their hands.”
Jas smiled and said, “‘Cause I am daddy’s little girl!”
“Well, guess what?” Shady said. “You are not going to be the only one.”
Jas’s eyes widened, and she stared at her mother and then dove onto Dax putting her body between him and her mother. “DADDY!” she screamed, and Dax frowned and said.
“What are you doing?”
“You have no clue what hormones does to her when she is pregnant, I don’t want her to actually shoot you ‘cause she totally would.”
Slider and Cajun walked into the room, grabbed the gun out of Shady’s hand, and glared at Dax.
“Welp, get up, seems we need to have a talk about how you are going to treat our baby girl,” Slider said, and Dax stared at him and then looked at Jas.
“He does know we are adults, right?”
Cajun shook his head, “Doesn’t matter, Jas is still our baby girl, and you have a whole club waiting for you to be interrogated.”
“Shit,” Jas said and fell back on the bed. “You had better get going.”
“What?” Dax laughed as her parents emptied the room they had collapsed in when they arrived last night. It had been late, and once everyone saw they were okay but exhausted, they gave them rooms and said they would debrief in the morning. It looks like they had other plans. “Are you seriously letting me face them alone?”
Jas leaned up on one elbow and stared at him with a serious expression. “Yes, they are batshit crazy, and I have information to go over with the Sisters and the Furies. Bus is going to need the information to help Frankie get her kid back and end this shit once and for all. Just ‘cause we have the proof; we need to find out how they are getting our information still. They knew where and when we were coming, I am thinking we still have a problem somewhere. I’ll come back after a while to make sure you are alive.”
“You are so mean,” Dax snapped, and Jas shrugged.
“They warned you.”
