Appendix 2
A Sampling of Black Sabbath’s Collectible Records
Here’s a collection of some of the highest priced and/or most collectible Black Sabbath records in existence (no boots or pirates, er, hopefully), with actual prices given for single examples of completed sales. One can assume that as prices go down, a major factor is condition, although there are many factors, such as when it was sold, whether multiple copies were up for sale at that time, etc. So yes, I’ve stayed away from descriptors that are too specific, most pertinently condition. As well, I’ve offered for your viewing a handful of the highest prices (maximum of five), which, one might assume, puts the condition of both the cover and media of these particular examples at the higher end of the scale. Also, I’ve provided a few pieces from a bunch of different eras, for variety’s sake, ’cos if I didn’t, we’d be too weighted toward the very earliest stuff, and that could get tiresome. Listing descriptions are a little loose, and not consistently ordered, but there’s enough said, using these various record-collecting terms (PS = picture sleeve, etc.) to aid you in correctly identifying what these items are. All amounts have been left in the currencies of the sale at the time; GBP is Great Britain pound, USD is U.S. dollar, EUR is euro, and AUD is Australian dollar. These listings are courtesy of popsike.com, the best source for completed auction results. Enjoy!
