Author’s Note

This book was at least 10 years in the making, for it emerged from the struggles my son was forced to endure with anxiety. I decided I wanted to write an exciting action/adventure story that would be fun for kids to read but would also put them (or their parents depending on who’s doing the reading) in the head of a child with anxiety. You’ll feel what it was like for my son when his anxiety was making it impossible for him to function or go to school. In addition, I worked with multiple psychologists, learning the kinds of coping strategies they teach their patients. Many of these techniques, coupled with what we used with our son, are included in the story. It’s my hope that kids with anxiety will see a slice of hope here, maybe a kindred soul in the main character, Cameron. Maybe kids without anxiety will gain an appreciation of what it’s like for those who suffer with it and will hopefully offer them some support and understanding.

I am certainly not a psychologist, and you shouldn’t use this book to treat your own child, rather, if you or your child are struggling with anxiety, go to a mental health professional, not an author. That being said, I hope you enjoy going on this adventure with Cameron Poole and his friends and gain some insight into what it’s like to struggle with anxiety.

Buckle up and get ready for a fun and exciting ride.
