The Atkins diet consists in principle of four different phases, from which the carbohydrates in the food can be slowly increased from the second stage. However, carbohydrates are drastically reduced in the initiation phase. The Atkins dietary nutrition plan, therefore, provides for a maximum of 20 g of carbohydrates in the first few days.
A positive side effect for those who follow the Atkins diet plan: the meals are easy to prepare and particularly in phase 1, the pounds quickly drift.
