In this part . . .

One of the sections on the GRE is the Verbal section. (Verbal is just a fancy name for “written or spoken word.”) The questions within come in four styles: Text Completion, Sentence Equivalence, Argument Analysis, and Reading Comprehension. This part devotes one chapter to each question type (though Text Completion and Sentence Equivalence questions are similar enough to share a chapter). In each chapter, you discover the format of each question (what it looks like), an approach to the question (where to begin and an organized plan of attack), and the various tricks and traps built into the questions (with, of course, suggestions for recognizing and avoiding these traps). Each chapter also includes some challenging practice questions and detailed answer explanations.

The GRE Verbal section is legendary for using obscure English vocabulary. Therefore, this part also devotes one chapter to brushing up on your vocabulary and recognizing roots, prefixes, and suffixes.
