The Team—and the Joint Services Special Demands Project Office—is an entirely fictional creation. While Special Forces units and the CIA work together on a variety of unique and difficult missions, their operations are conducted within a framework and chain of command that provide for extensive review of their actions. In no case do real-life personnel or their units operate beyond the limits of U.S. law. Nor would such operations be authorized or condoned by counsel in the employ of the president of the United States, much less the president himself.
The nuclear waste, storage, and dumping facilities, transportation arrangements, and processing operation described in this book are fiction. The threat, however, is not.
