MATERIALS

3 PRECUT 10˝ SQUARES (1 background, 2 contrasting)

CUTTING

• From background square, cut 2 squares 5˝ × 5˝ and 1 square 4½˝ × 4½˝.

• From 1 contrasting square, cut 2 squares 5˝ × 5˝.

• From remaining contrasting square, cut 4 squares 4½˝ × 4½˝.

Layer a 5˝ × 5˝ background square on top of a 5˝ × 5˝ contrasting square. Draw a line corner to corner. Sew ¼˝ from the line on each side. Cut along the lines. Trim to 4½˝ × 4½˝. Repeat to make 2 more half-square triangle units.

Sew the block together as shown.
