MATERIALS
4 PRECUT 2½˝ STRIPS or 4 PRECUT 10˝ SQUARES (1 green, 1 for flower, 2 background)
CUTTING
• From green strip or square, cut 2 squares 2½˝ × 2½˝ and 2 rectangles 2½˝ × 4½˝.
• From flower strip or square, cut 1 square 2½˝ × 2½˝ and 2 rectangles 2½˝ × 4½˝.
• From background strips or squares, cut 2 rectangles 2½˝ × 10½˝, 4 rectangles 2½˝ × 4½˝, and 9 squares 2½˝ × 2½˝.
Sew a white 2½˝ × 2½˝ square to a red 2½˝ × 2½˝ square and set aside. Layer a white 2½˝ × 2½˝ square on one end of a red 2½˝ × 4½˝ rectangle right sides together and sew from corner to corner on the square. Trim excess. Repeat with another white 2½˝ square on the other end of the rectangle, placing the seam in the opposite direction to form a Flying Geese unit.
Sew the Flying Geese units to either side of the red/white square unit, then sew a 2½˝ × 4½˝ rectangle to either side of the combined unit.
Layer a white 2½˝ × 2½˝ square on one end of a green 2½˝ × 4½˝ rectangle right sides together and sew from corner to corner on the square. Trim excess. Repeat with another white square on the other end of the rectangle, placing the seam in the same direction, to form the leaf unit. Repeat to create a mirror image of the leaf unit.
Sew a leaf unit to either side of a green 2½˝ × 2½˝ square.
Sew a white 2½˝ × 4½˝ rectangle to either side of a green 2½˝ × 2½˝ square.
