Besides those mentioned in the text, there is one over the hall and chapel of Conway Castle, and there is reason to believe that the old roof of the Guildhall in London had stone principals, some portions of them having been found during the repairs in 1864. Such roofs are common in some parts of France, especially over the aisles of churches, as at Montmartre in Paris, and many churches in the Isle de France, and remains of them have been found in Normandy in work of the eleventh and twelfth centuries.
