^* The history of infighting among national and international Communist Parties has been well told. Suspicion of fellow Party members, betrayals, and even violence against those who might disagree about Stalin or Trotsky or about whether national Parties should be independent or subservient to Moscow were frequent. Occasionally resistance efforts against the Germans failed because of this mutual distrust and enmity.
