Cleaner than the grungier Seattle, rainy Portland attracts the creative, free-spirited entrepreneurs with great microbreweries, roses, good food, and a welcoming environment. Finally, thank god for modernity—over a hundred years ago, Portland was considered the most dangerous city in the states to go out for a drink. Not because you might end up dead, but shanghaied on a boat to another country.
