About the Author

Michael Moe is the Founder of GSV. He has served as the Chairman, CEO, and Chief Investment Officer of GSV Capital Corp. (Nasdaq: GSVC) since the company’s inception in 2011.

Regarded as a preeminent global authority on growth investing, Michael’s honors include Institutional Investor’s “All American” research team and the Wall Street Journal’s “Best on the Street” award. He was recognized by Business Week as “one of the best stock pickers in the country.”

Michael conceived of GSV Capital as an opportunity for public investors to invest in premier late-stage, high-growth, venture-backed companies. Driven by the fundamental structural change in the IPO market and in the characteristics of companies going public today, GSV Capital was the first publicly traded security enabling all investors to capture the dramatic growth and value creation taking place in the private marketplace. Noteworthy private invcriestments by GSV Capital include Spotify, Snapchat, Coursera, Facebook, Course Hero, Twitter, Enjoy, Palantir, Lyft, and Dropbox.

Michael has also written extensively about investing in emerging growth-equity markets. In 2006, he authored the business best-seller Finding the Next Starbucks: How to Identify and Invest in the Hot Stocks of Tomorrow (Penguin Group), which has gone through three printings in five languages. He also publishes a weekly research newsletter, A2Apple, which focuses on emerging trends in the global growth economy.

Prior to starting GSV, Michael co-founded and served as chairman and CEO of ThinkEquity Partners, an asset management and investment banking firm focused on venture capital, entrepreneurial, and emerging growth companies. Before ThinkEquity, he held positions as Head of Global Growth Research at Merrill Lynch and Head of Growth Research and Strategy at Montgomery Securities.

Michael earned a BA from the University of Minnesota and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). He is a member of the Board of Directors of OZY Media, Coursera, Curious, GSVlabs, StormWind, and SharesPost. Michael is also a member of the advisory board at Institutional Venture Partners. Michael lives in Silicon Valley with his wife Bonnie and two dogs Bruiser and Rab and ocasionally with his two daughteres Maggie and Caroline.

About the Global Silicon Valley Team

Suzee Han is an analyst at GSV and graduated from Northwestern University with a BA in biological sciences, concentrating in molecular biology. During her time at Northwestern, Suzee lead EPIC, the undergraduate entrepreneurship student group, and created and ran an entrepreneurship development program, a business pitch competition, and an intercollegiate hackathon, among other programs.

Rahul Singireddy is a student at Stanford University majoring in symbolic systems. He is an avid writer with a background in venture capital and product management and is currently working on the newest edition of an entrepreneurship textbook titled Technology Ventures. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, watching the Los Angeles Lakers, and going to Rüfüs Du Sol concerts.

Ryan Demo is a student at Johns Hopkins University studying electrical and computer engineering. Originally and still a graphic designer, he loves bringing to life ideas at the intersection of software engineering and design, often through iOS apps. His favorite pastimes include taking road trips, cooking Italian food, and photographing his friends and family.

Li Jiang is a vice president at GSV and passionate about building start-up communities. He’s excited about the possibilities of emerging technologies such as blockchain, mixed reality, machine learning, and microsatellites. He has founded a company, advised entrepreneurs, invested in them, and even made a few documentaries on innovation hot spots around the world. He looks forward to playing ultimate Frisbee with you on Mars.

Nicholas Franco is a vice president at GSV. Prior to GSV, Nicholas served as vice president of business development for ConnectEDU, a venture-backed education technology company, where he led new-market, product innovation, and corporate partnership strategies. Nicholas graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a BA in international relations. He serves on the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship’s (NFTE) National Innovation Committee.
