Grammar is a very serious business.
—The Grammar Patrol

Judith Pinkerton Josephson (left) and Edith Hope Fine (right), aka the Grammar Patrol, taught grammar with a comic twist through San Diego State University Extension for twenty years. They have close to thirty books between them. Both are ardent bibliophiles and spot grammar bloopers everywhere.

Judith, an avid swimmer and cook, plays the violin. She has written poetry and nonfiction, including biographies about Beethoven, Walt Disney, Nikki Giovanni, Jesse Owen, Allan Pinkerton (no relation!), and Mother Jones. Her three childhood history books focus on the pioneer era, the turn of the century (the early1900s), and World War II.

Edith, a rabid recycler, likes swimming and Sudoku. Her books include CryptoMania!: Teleporting into Greek and Latin with the CryptoKids, Under the Lemon Moon, and biographies of Gary Paulsen, Barbara McClintock, Rosa Parks, and Martin Luther King Jr. Her Greek/Latin CryptoKids Decoder Program is used in schools nationwide.

Besides Nitty-Gritty Grammar and More Nitty-Gritty Grammar, Fine and Josephson are coauthors of two other books. Fine and Josephson both live in southern California near their families. Visit their websites for grammar quizzes, book giveaways, and more:
