The word “coop” comes from the Old English word for “basket.” To a large degree a chicken coop is simply a basket that your hens sleep in. But lots of things have to be able to get in and out of it: chickens, eggs, the henkeepers, fresh bedding, spent bedding, hot air, damp air. Let’s look at how we’ll make all that possible.
