Dear Reader,

When I finished writing Shipyard Girls under the Mistletoe I realised how much of the drama and plot are driven by different types of love. There’s the romantic love of Dorothy and Bobby, the caring love Helen feels for her grandmother and, indeed, which Henrietta also has for her granddaughter, and the friendship which all the women have for one another, and which is particularly prominent whenever one of them finds themselves in difficult times.

So this Christmas, dear Reader, I wish you, above all else – love, love and more love.

Surely that’s something impossible to overindulge in!
