Draw Near to God

Come near to God and he will come near to you.

JAMES 4:8

I remember back when I was in Bible college, single, and able to spend three hours in prayer and study with God almost every day of the week. And then I got into full-time ministry . . . and then I got married . . . and then I had kids . . . and then . . . and then . . . and then . . . Believe me, I completely understand the dilemma of trying to get a thousand things accomplished each day and still carve out time to spend with God. What Christian woman does not deal with this?

But the fact of the matter is, if we are running so much that we have no time left to talk to God, we are way out of balance. Drawing near to our Source of everything needs to be the highest priority if we want to have and do it all in life, and out of the thousand things that need to be done, spending time with God must be at the top of our list.

Now, before any of you start feeling all that guilt and condemnation, let me say this: Throw out your legalism, find what works for you in this season of life, and stop feeling guilty about it! There is no correct formula for drawing near to God; you must simply do whatever you need to do to be close to him. He will meet you there.

When we take the time to nestle into our Father in heaven, we will find the strength, power, wisdom, and contentment to navigate every season of life.
