Shed Those Sins

For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.

ROMANS 6:14

We can live in victory and freedom in every area of our lives if we choose to admit, confess, and deal with those areas that have been holding us back from fulfilling the purpose of God. Because of grace we don’t need to be mastered by sin any longer. What a great hope and promise lies in this truth.

Perhaps you are compromising in areas of your life and are destroying your intimacy with God and your relationships with others. Because of the redemptive work of Jesus Christ on the cross, you and I no longer need to be slaves to sin; we have been set free. Praise God!

Sin must be dealt with ruthlessly and cast aside. God won’t do that for us; we need to repent of every sin and evil desire. That’s the only way to strip sin of its power in our lives. Once we shed our sins, we will no longer stumble along but run freely.

I realize that many people do not like us to use the term “sin” today, but I think it is important that we correctly diagnose a sickness so that we know exactly what to administer to bring health and wholeness. If I had a bottle of poison and ripped off the label, replacing it with a label that said chocolate syrup, you would think I was crazy. And you would be correct — because the milder you make the label, the more potent you make the poison. Let’s not put a wrong label on the disease, because if we call it what it is, then we can be washed clean by the precious blood of the Lamb. You can be set free right here and right now.

What can wash my sin away? Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

MOMENT OF REFLECTION

This is your chance to be very honest. What sin has the Holy Spirit been convicting you of that you have been ignoring? Remember sins are not just external actions, but can also be attitudes that we store up in our hearts.
