A Heart of Wisdom

Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

PSALM 90:2

Have you ever found yourself thinking or saying, “If only I had more time, I would pray more, study more, serve more, do more, see more movies, catch up with more friends, read more books, write a book, answer more emails, play with my kids, paint, learn an instrument, see more plays, take a walk along the beach, train for a marathon, etc.”? It seems as though we spend the time we do have wishing that we had more time to be doing anything other than what we are doing right then and there!

So often, we miss the moment we are in, the opportunities that we have, and even the time that we have because we are so busy wishing our time away. The truth is that we each have twenty-four hours every day, the exact amount of time we need to fulfill our purpose and destiny. The issue is not whether we have enough time; it is whether or not we are doing enough with the time we have. If we choose to eliminate the things that are wasting our time and replace them with those things we wish we had time to do, we would discover that we actually can accomplish a lot more than we thought possible.

It would be a great tragedy to come to the end of our lives only to discover that we never truly lived. With so many options, distractions, and incessant noise around us screaming for our attention, let’s determine to put first things first and not waste our time wasting time. We only have one life; this is not a dress rehearsal for the real thing. Let’s make every second count!

MOMENT OF REFLECTION

Are you aware of things that are time wasters in your life?

Make a list of them and commit to stop wasting time.
