Deny the Petty Things

For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

2 CORINTHIANS 4:17 – 18

Your God is bigger than any challenge you are confronting. Our problems that seem so overwhelming will grow small in the light of his greatness. Sometimes we just need to stop and backdrop our problems against eternity. If we can remind ourselves that God is bigger than any opposition, disease, crisis, question, struggle, frustration, hurt, or offense, then we will not spend one more minute magnifying the enemy and his plans. The last time I checked, the devil was small enough to fit under my feet, and God is big enough to fill the heavens and earth.

In life we can miss so much of God and his greater plan and purpose because we exhaust our energy on the little things. We need discretion about what we think about, listen to, speak about, and give our attention to.

We must learn to deny the petty things in life, the things that scream at us for our attention, and instead focus on God and his promises. Our God is well able to do all things.
