Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
JOHN 14:12 – 14
It is a great tragedy to have the ability to see but to lack vision. Vision is the fuel that keeps us pursuing our dreams and destiny. The ability to see the future as a current reality is crucial because without a future hope we would all despair. God has given us spiritual eyes to see ahead so that we do not get stuck where we have been or where we are. If what we see now is all we can see, then we will never see all there is to see. There’s always more ahead if we would only look up.
Make no mistake, when the enemy wants to discourage us, he will always blur our vision. Sight is a function of the eyes, but vision is a function of the heart. It is vision that makes the unseen visible and the unknown possible. It generates hope in the midst of despair and provides endurance in tribulation. Vision is the energy of our entire God-given progress.
When there is no revelation of the future, people throw off self-control, personal discipline, and restraint. It is the vision of what God has ahead that enables us to live undaunted in the present. When we know what is beyond the wall, we can believe for the wall to come down. When we know there is dry land on the other side, we can believe for the sea to part. When we believe that there is a Promised Land, we can believe for provision in the wilderness. Believing that there is something greater ahead allows us to stay faithful now.
So today, stop looking at your current circumstances and start looking at the promises God has stored up for you in the future. There is more ahead for you than there is behind you. God’s hope, plan, provision, and purpose are before you. All you need to do is to keep taking one step at a time and watch the vision unfold before your eyes.
MOMENT OF REFLECTION
Are you still full of vision or has your sight replaced your vision?
