Your brain is a radio transmitter. It broadcasts thoughts, directions, and vibrations to your cells, and you get to choose the station it’s tuned to. Is your DJ a Hell’s Angel or a minister? Are you playing soulful classics or blaring death metal? Even worse, are you rocking back and forth to the sound of white-noise static?

Thoughts are electrical currents that send messages to your body. Deepak Chopra, renowned physician, best-selling author, spiritual leader, and very snazzy dresser, says, “If you have happy thoughts, then you make happy molecules.” Deepak’s studies of mind–body medicine indicate that there is a healing power beyond what Western science can explain. He calls this energy quantum healing: “Our bodies ultimately are fields of information, intelligence, and energy. Quantum healing involves a shift in the fields of energy information, so as to bring about a correction in an idea that has gone wrong.”

How do you feel when you’re jealous or, worse, envious? Wildly enraged? Deeply insecure? Unfortunately, stinking thinking spoils the party and makes you a downer. No one wants to hang out or be around you—and the person who suffers the most is you.

Now think about the light. How do you feel when you are beaming with pure shazizzle? When there is no doubt in your mind that you will be president, heal the planet, cool global warming, and receive a billion-dollar check from those generous saints at Publishers Clearing House? You feel awesome! Both of these states affect your mind and your body. Both are something you choose. Now, I’m not saying you have to be bliss-boy or -babe 24/7.

SOMETIMES MAD-SAD-RAGE IS THE TICKET TO SELF-PRESERVATION AND LIBERATION.

But take note and then send positive energy to the source of the pain. Remember, you are what you eat, drink, and think.

Every thought you have contributes to truth or to illusion, it either extends the truth or multiplies the illusion.

—A COURSE IN MIRACLES

What station is your brain tuned to? What’s on your playlist? Who are your DJs?

Good Vibrations

Dr. Ginger Southall was one of my favorite teachers at the Hippocrates Health Institute, the amazing healing center where I received my Holistic Health Educator certification. Check out how she takes the inner radio station to a whole new level in excerpts from an article she wrote titled “Quantum Leaps in Healing,” first published in Hippocrates: Saving Our World magazine.

Take it away, lovely Dr. Ginger . . .

Our brains are not just organs encased in our skulls, but rather the most powerfully complex electrical energy instruments ever known to man. Through the stimulation of various brain centers our organs, glands, heart, voluntary, and involuntary movements are all controlled. That’s a concept we all can understand. What most people are not familiar with is the connection between our body’s “thought vibrations” and the rest of our life, including our health.

Every thought you have has a frequency or vibration. Your thoughts actually send out magnetic energy. You’ve probably experienced “thought energy” a thousand times in your life but didn’t even know it. Think about it. How many times have you been around someone who is unpleasant and you just don’t want to be in their presence? You may get “bad vibes” about that person because of their pessimism and “negative energy.” But then there’s that person you love to be around; they are always upbeat, positive, and have a zest for life. Their optimism and “good vibes” make you feel good.

Even the former head of the FDA’s Office of Drug Evaluation, Robert DeLap, MD, concedes, “Expectation is a powerful thing . . . the more you believe you’re going to benefit from a treatment, the more likely it is that you will experience a benefit.”

So how can you put this information into action; ignite success in all areas of your life, especially your health? Wrap your mind around the idea that whatever path you choose to take on your road to wellness should at the very least involve you working with your own mind, your thoughts, and your emotions. Live a life full of good intentions, gratitude, faith, forgiveness, and joy and you will watch miracles become a daily happening in your life.
