Will You Have a Voice?

The good news is that you might have a say as to whether or not a merger will go through. You could have a vote on the overall merger process if you have stock in a company that wants to merge with another. You would be given a private ballot available only to shareholders. Each person has the option to vote on whether or not the merger will move forward. This is often required by state law, but the rules will vary based on the country and/or state of your residence. Businesses often put their mergers to the shareholders first to gauge their sentiment. The shareholders would be directly impacted by the change in power.
