I am truly blessed to come from a family that knows the valuable lesson to show love every day. I want to thank Pop for giving me loads of encouragement to keep writing. (Or as he would say, “Go ‘head on Monk.”). I want to thank Mama, for listening to me through my tears, for giving me the courage to continue writing, for pushing me past my fears and teaching me that other people’s opinions of me do not matter. Thanks Mama. I love you. Thanks Piggi for always listening to me whine, and helping to put steel in my spine. Thanks for reading my book (twice no less!) even though I know you hate to read. You keep my hair bouncy as a jackrabbit and it is always beautiful. You are generous and kind hearted and very much loved. Thanks to Kim for the insight into the writing world and for your support. Keep writing. Thanks to Niki Lightfoot for always being so full of hope, and always telling me that my dreams would come true. Kiss Jordan for me. Thanks to Kimberly Cruz for staying a part of the family. Our ‘Little Man’ is all grown up! Thank you Willliam Moore for showing us so much love during the rocky years we’ve shared. Every day will get better and better. Love you Trey, Trey! Thanks to Rhonda Warren for loving me just the way I am. I love you girl and always will. Thanks to Percy Rosemond Jr., for reading my book and giving me constructive criticism. Thanks to Joyce Jenkins for being a friend and for my first writing gig at Forward Times newspaper. You are so strong and just being around you I hope to absorb your strength and positive attitude. Let’s keep sharing books! I love you. Thanks to the clients of Behave Hair Salon, but especially Wanda Lane, Tammie Ridges, Tracy Mouton, and Jessica LaBove. I love all of you and hated to leave you but when you gotta go, you gotta go. Thanks to Genesis Press and my editor Deborah Schumaker, who made my road a lot easier.
And now as Vanessa Williams sang once, to ‘Save the Best for Last’, my loving husband Ronald and beautiful daughter Isabelle. Ronald, your patience knows no end. You are my best friend; you know me through and through and still stand with me. It is a privilege and blessing to have you as my husband. You are the cheese baby, our love transcends time. Isabelle, you are feisty, funny and fearless. Don’t ever change. Mama loves you.
Happy Reading!
