In 2015, for one of those big “0” birthdays, I gifted myself a trip to the Amalfi Coast, a place so beautiful and so romantic it almost defies description. Being a writer, I had to at least try to put my experience into words. Seb’s story came to me on one of my many ferry rides between towns. Travelling by water requires its own kind of Zen, but I came to love it, along with, as you might have noticed, everything else about the place. If you have a chance to go there, do. It’s one of the jewels of the world.

This book would not have been possible without the encouragement and infinite patience of my editor, Nancy-Anne Davies, who deserves an extra thank-you for taking the reins on the foaling scene. I adore my betas, Karen Wellsbury, Liv Rancourt, Day’s Lee, and Judie Troyansky, whose early support of the book helped me see that I could indeed write contemporary. G&Ts for everyone! My cover artist, the Lady Tiferet, is both cheerleader and security blanket. Knowing she’s going to bibbidy-bobbidy-boo the book into something gorgeous and marketable gives me no end of confidence.

A massive thank-you to my sensitivity readers Francesca Borzi, Melanie Ting, and Koji Takahashi for their insights and corrections. It means the world to me that they were willing to share their life experiences/culture with me. Any mistakes that might have crept in there are my fault alone.
