Three Decades of Driving

1982, Silver Beige

Owner: George

The 1982 Silver Beige Corvette shown here is the first Corvette George has owned. In 1988, after college tuition payments were a thing of the past, he decided to purchase this beautiful machine on wheels. He specifically wanted a 1982 Collector Edition (C.E.), not for any special reason—he just did. He has driven it for almost 30 years and has never regretted one minute of ownership.

The 1982 was the last of the C3 generation (1968-1982) of Corvettes. The C.E. was a unique model to commemorate the end of the C3 generation and it incorporated special features not available on a standard 1982. The C.E. rear window is a “hatch,” which opens to provide access to the trunk space. This model also had a special print and graphic combination with matching interior Silver Beige leather and fabric. The wheels are similar to the rib design of the 1967. The engine is a standard 350ci displacement, except the normal Corvette carburetor was replaced with a throttle-body fuel injection system. A total of 6,759 Collector Editions were produced and this was the first Corvette to break the $20,000 price barrier at $22,538.
