More Tips for Building Your Credibility
Other things that will build your credibility are the things you do every day and the person you are day in and day out. Earning credibility may seem like a slow process sometimes, but it is completely worth it. If a client loves and trusts you, that is when they will feel comfortable telling their friends about you and therefore growing your company. Believe it or not, your humility and respect for others will come through an email...and the lack thereof will, as well.
• Respect of others is extremely important. Respect is a two-way street and you will not receive respect without giving it. In your conversations with others as well as your emails and online marketing, make sure to be professional in all things. Stay respectful of others even when they are not respectful of you. Being able to stay calm in all situations makes you look professional and builds credibility. If you argue with a client, this news will spread like wildfire and your trustworthiness will very quickly diminish. It may be hard to be respectful when being insulted, but it is of the utmost importance. When someone complains to you, listen to understand.
• Did you make a mistake? If yes, own up to it and fix it. Mistakes do happen. A mistake will not kill your credibility, but lying about it will.
• Always do the right thing. Do not cross the lines that you have set for yourself. An unwavering loyalty to yourself and your beliefs is credible; breaking your own rules is not.
• If you do not know how to answer a question, do not lie or make up an answer. Be honest with your client and yourself. Tell them that you are not sure what the answer is, but you will find out and let them know as soon as possible. They will appreciate your honesty more than an inappropriate answer.
• You need to realize that some people will not like you. It is impossible for one person to please everyone. Accept this fact and move on. There are plenty of people out there, and you don’t need to keep trying to satisfy someone who cannot be satisfied. You must be respectful about it, though, because your integrity is on the line even with those who do not like you. Word of mouth is a very strong tool and someone who has had a bad experience with you will spread this news, whereas someone who simply didn’t agree with you will have no problem continuing with their day. Be respectful and move on.
At first glance, it may seem that credibility does not have much influence on email marketing or the other way around. This, however, is incorrect. Your email marketing will succeed only if your client believes you are a credible source. On the other hand, your reputation can either be tarnished or polished by the way you market your product. Email marketing is a highly effective tool when it is used correctly by a salesperson with integrity and trustworthiness.
