Seeing he refused almost everything we had, I made him some macaroni broth, of which he was persuaded to take a cup; scarcely would he touch anything more the whole day, save some cold tea and toast and water. As he had taken no medicine since the morning, in the evening I gave him 8g of jalap powder in two doses, hoping this might relieve him a little and compose him to sleep, but to no purpose.
