As I mentioned, I have always been fascinated by Chinese culture. I may not know a lot about Western astrological signs, but I am a Chinese zodiac expert. Freddie was born in the “year of the dragon” (and he has the tattoo to prove it), and I was born in the “year of the snake.” Interestingly, the attributes and the sayings of each are a perfect match. The dragon represents strength while the snake represents flexibility. Traditionally the sayings are: “Strength without flexibility leads to fracture” and “flexibility without strength leads to compromise.” It sounds like we were made for each other. Equally, we were made to love Chinese cooking.

While dumplings and egg rolls may seem like obvious choices, blood oranges may not. In Chinese, the word orange sounds very similar to the word for wealth, so an orange is often associated with prosperity. And, really, who am I to argue with such a lucky fruit?
