“WATER BATS”

Stingrays look like bats in the water.

Stingrays are cousins of sharks. Both have skeletons of cartilage.

Stingrays live in both freshwater and salt water.

Some stingrays stay buried in the sand, and others are very active swimmers.

Many stingrays have a stinger that contains venom.

Stingrays eat worms, clams, shrimp, and plankton.

Some kinds of stingray babies are born alive from their mother, and some hatch from eggs.
