Cabbage Sage Stew

Sage makes for a tasty variation on detox cabbage soup.

Makes 4 servings.

1/3 cup olive oil

1/3 cup white onion, finely chopped

1 clove garlic, minced

1 carrot, peeled and cut into matchstick strips

1 cup Savoy cabbage, shredded

6 fresh sage leaves, or 1 teaspoon dried sage

1. Heat olive oil in a skillet on medium-high heat. Add onions and garlic and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.

2. Put the carrots in the slow cooker, and cover with the onion mixture. Next, add the cabbage and sage. Top with 1/2 cup water.

3. Cover the cooker and cook on Low for 4 to 5 hours or on High for 2 to 3 hours until the veggies are soft. Serve warm.
