Habits form as a result of repetition, eventually becoming unconscious behaviors we often don’t notice we’re doing. Bad habits are behaviors and choices that no longer serve our greatest good, and they often become addictions. Breaking them requires intentional effort.
Amethyst and Release Mantra
Amethyst is known as the “sober stone” because it helps remove addictions and addictive behaviors. When working with bad habits, cleanse your amethyst daily.
Each day, carry the amethyst with you in a pocket or wear it. When you recognize you’re engaging in the bad habit, hold the amethyst in your receiving (nondominant) hand and repeat the mantra, “I release (fill in the habit) because it no longer serves me.”
Sacral Chakra Stimulation
Bad habits often result from stuck energy in the sacral chakra, so stimulating this area regularly can help move the stuck energy.

Go where you won’t be disturbed, and lie back comfortably.

Place freshly cleansed carnelian on your sacral chakra.

Chant the Bija mantra

or the healing vowel sound

to stimulate the chakra. As you chant, visualize energy flowing freely through your sacral chakra. Continue for two to three minutes.

Side of hand: “Even though I have (fill in the blank) habit, I deeply and completely accept myself.”
Remaining points: “I release (fill in the blank) habit because it no longer serves me.”
