MYLON LeFEVRE

I first met Mylon LeFevre in 1968 when we were playing in a band behind J.D. Sumner & the Stamps Quartet. We were roommates while we were both single and I became awed by Mylon’s “coolness” and hip style. Back then, Mylon wrote a song called “Without Him,” which Elvis recorded. Needless to say, he was someone I really wanted to be like. He influenced my style—not only in music but even in the way I dress to this day.

Mylon’s forward thinking in fashion drove him outside to the Jesus Rock movement in California, which was not acceptable to those in the Southern gospel music circles. And you needed to be in that circle.

Years later, Mylon reentered the gospel music world through the contemporary Christian music scene, which had become a mainstream genre just like Southern gospel.

Mylon now travels with his wife, Christi, ministering and teaching across the country. He has let go of the drugs and rock ’n’ roll lifestyle but still has a Harley and a cool persona.

“Sometimes it takes a while to find out what money can’t buy and what’s really important in life. I’m really proud of you, Tony; you didn’t quit when it got hard.”

FASHION IS FOR PEOPLE WHO DON’T HAVE STYLE. THAT WAS NEVER A PROBLEM FOR MYLON.
