GEORGE STRAIT

GEORGE STRAIT THE KING OF COUNTRY MUSIC OVER 70 MILLION AND COUNTING OVER 40 ALBUMS AND OVER 60 NUMBER ONE SINGLES

I first met George Strait while playing on a Folgers coffee jingle that I’d been hired to do. He was a brand-new artist on MCA Nashville at the time. I was still at RCA Nashville then.

When I came to MCA Nashville in 1984, George was already a superstar being produced by Jimmy Bowen. In 1992, Jimmy left to go to Capitol Nashville, and once again luck would go my way that I would inherit the job of producing my very first George Strait album. That album was Pure Country and it also became the biggest-selling album of George’s career, going six times platinum.

Of all the artists I have produced, my body of work with George Strait is the best representation of my work as a record producer. The credit goes to George Strait’s ability to select great songs and stay true to his roots. He has had sixty number one singles, and thirty-seven of those are from our work together.

I am grateful for having the opportunity to work with such an iconic artist as George Strait. We have been through a lot together over the last twenty years, and I count him as one of my close friends. After all, he is THE King George!

“Tony Brown is going to leave a big footprint in the music world when he decides to step away. I love the fact that he’s been such a huge part of my history.”

George Strait

MANY ARTISTS TRY TO REINVENT THEMSELVES TO EXTEND THEIR CAREERS. GEORGE STRAIT DID NOT. HE HAS STAYED TRUE TO HIS TEXAS STYLE AND THAT’S WHY HE’S KING OF THE COWBOYS.
