WYNONNA JUDD

Me, Mike Curb, Ken Stilts, Wynonna, and Bruce Hinton, celebrating Wy’s first solo album selling 6 million copies.

I was the director of A&R at RCA Nashville in the early 1980s when RCA president Joe Galante had me come up to his office. He wanted me to hear a mother-daughter duo called The Judds. They sang “John Deere Tractor” and “Mama He’s Crazy” in his office with just Wy playing guitar and Naomi singing her harmony. My life was forever changed!

Fast-forward to 1993 and I got the opportunity to produce Wynonna’s first solo album since The Judds had retired due to Naomi’s illness. What an opportunity—a clean slate to explore what Wy could really do! The first single off her self-titled album, Wynonna, was “She Is His Only Need,” followed by “No One Else on Earth.” Wynonna would sell six times platinum! And I produced two more great albums with her. Wynonna’s music is some of the best I’ve ever been a part of, and I am truly thankful for that.

A FABULOUS CAREER WITH HER MOM IN THE JUDDS AND AS A SOLO ACT. HER SELF-TITLED FIRST ALBUM SOLD SIX TIMES PLATINUM.
