CHAPTER 5

THIS IS JUST TOO EASY

For many young men, sex is something you’re always on the lookout for. For most teenage boys, any sex with any woman is good sex, but not so much for Caleb. The incident with Lillie when he was eight had twisted his view on sex and women, so he hated the idea of sex, but his natural instincts were always at odds with his brain. Caleb was an exceptionally good looking young man, and girls were asking him outright for sex, falling all over themselves trying to get to him. But Caleb was still socially challenged, and the thought of being with a girl by himself could be disturbing to him. Sometimes if Caleb was just with a girl, his mind flashed back to traumatic memories of Lillie and her lover and he could become violent. Generally speaking, if Caleb was alone with a girl and having sex, he was after something else.

The odd thing, though, was that if the girls were bisexual, that worked much better. Not in a freaky kind of way, but in a way that Caleb could cope with sex. He had learned that with two girls they would do all the talking without expecting him to say much—just lie there and look pretty and that was fine with him.

One night his sophomore year after a football game, Caleb was reluctantly talking to a reporter about some of the more impressive plays of the night. Two of the cheerleaders, Nia and Jamie, started walking towards him as the reporter left.

“Hey Caleb,” Nia said, “what are you doing tonight?” She leaned in with a pleasant, and obviously nervous, smile.

Jamie elbowed her way past her friend and chimed in, “So, do you have any beer? Nia and I are looking to party a bit, and we thought you could maybe help us out.”

“Sure, I’ve got beer and stuff,” Caleb said. “Why don’t you girls come over to my room in about thirty minutes? We’ll party till morning,” he said with a wink.

“Great!” Nia said. “We’ll see you then.”

At about 10:30, he heard the girls pull up outside the garage. He made his way to the door, a couple of beers in hand, and ushered them in. Jamie wasted no time in snagging the beer from Caleb and chugged it down in seconds; Nia wasn’t far behind.

Caleb was wearing a tank top and hip-hugger jeans with a thin roped headband on. “Whew, this is one hot man, Nia thought to herself.

“What else do you have around here?” Jamie said, waggling her empty beer bottle.

“What else do you want?” Caleb said. “I have it all.”

Jamie giggled. “Got any weed? We’ve never tried it, but I’m dying to!”

Caleb laughed out loud at that. “Please. I have weed, LSD, PCP, heroin, cocaine, uppers, downers, and all the alcohol you can possibly drink. It’s a den of iniquity in here!” He flopped down on the couch and put his arms on the back, nodding them over. “So, girls, what kind of music do you like? I have a great stereo system.”

“Oh!” Nia shouted, “I love Cheap Trick, The Knack, and Bad Company! Do you have any of that?”

“I have all of it!” he laughed. “Let’s turn it up!” He gave each of them a joint and a few paper tabs of LSD, turned on the black lights, and let the music blare.

“What’s this, Caleb?” Nia flipped the paper tabs over in her hand.

“Don’t worry about it let’s just have fun,” Caleb said with a smile. They both slid the paper under their tongues and lit up their joints. Nia coughed for a minute when Caleb lit hers, but soon enough they were all kicked back in bean bags chilling out to the music. After about thirty minutes, both girls were as high as a kite and hallucinating.

Caleb didn’t take any pills, just smoked a joint. Someone needed to watch out for them, after all—this was their first time. Caleb leaned back and watched the chaos unfold with a slight grin on his face. Nia stood up, put her hands out to her sides, and started twirling in a circle, giggling, “Look at all the beautiful colors! I am a beautiful color.”

Jamie started dancing and taking off her clothes. She walked over to the bed, laid down, and looked at the posters above her. “Whoa! Freaky, dude! I’ve never…never felt like this before. It’s so pretty.” Soon after that, Nia had her clothes off and was lying on the bed with Jamie.

Caleb could feel his skin start to tingle, and his face flushed as his heart started beating faster. He smothered what was left of his joint and climbed into bed with them. Soon, everyone was having sex with everyone. Whenever the high started to subside, Caleb would go off and fix a shot of heroin, another joint, whatever he felt like giving them.

They went on and on the entire weekend. None of them got dressed; they just laid there and drank, took drugs, and had sex. Early Monday morning, Jamie shook Nia out of a stoned sleep.

“Wake up. We have to go home. We have school in a few hours.”

Nia opened one eye and said, “I’m playing hooky today. You go ahead.” As Jamie started to leave, Caleb ran over to her and set her up with one more fix of heroin before sending her on her way.

From then on, Caleb would call the girls every day to come over and party. An addiction to drugs is elusive—the girls weren’t mature enough yet to know what they were getting into. They thought they were just having fun. Soon enough, those two girls wound up wholly dependent on Caleb to give them their fix, and he used them to live out his sexual fantasies. Nia and Jamie were always with him, asking, begging for another shot. Once he had them hooked, they had no choice but to do whatever Caleb wanted whenever he wanted it. They were kicked off the cheerleading squad—you have to practice to cheer, and they didn’t have time for that anymore.
