Richard E. Schroeder holds a Ph.D. in modern military history from the University of Chicago. He retired from the Central Intelligence Agency’s Clandestine Service after a three-decade career spent in Europe and Washington, D.C. He held the CIA chair at National Defense University’s Industrial College of the Armed Forces, is an adjunct professor in Georgetown University’s Security Studies Program, and is a member of the board of advisors of the International Spy Museum in Washington, D.C. He lives with his wife, Leah, in Arlington, Virginia.
