FANTASTIC INVASION

‘I find Fantastic Invasion one of those rare things, an important book on independent Africa today. It exposes a disastrous situation, arising from ignorance, sometimes hypocrisy, and sometimes greed. I would describe it as “uncommon-sense”. ’

-Graham Greene

‘An absolutely horrifying chronicle which, better than any book I know, explains Africa and finds a pattern in what has baffled every other observer up to now. It is a courageous and brilliant effort.’

-Paul Theroux

SO FAR FROM GOD

‘A marvellous - and trustworthy - book: Marnham travels through beautiful countries full of death and fear, their people religious, courteous and violent, befriending and observing across political and racial divisions... Vivid and acute... Highly recommended.’

-Sunday Times

‘One of the most powerful pieces of political reporting I have ever read.’

-Colin Wilson

‘To those who imagine that the novelist's trade is a trade like any other... I would like to show them that it is, on the contrary, a vocation, a renunciation or even a sickness and a curse.’
