The descriptions of Chicago are from the point of view of a young man who has lived in wide open spaces all his life. From the pictures I saw, they may not be completely accurate as it appears the buildings weren’t all that tall from a modern perspective and the sky was probably more visible then than it is now. I chose to view it through Otis’s eyes instead.
As for the description of the inside and outside of Jenner Medical School, that is completely fabricated. I could not find any information on what it may have looked like, so I used my imagination instead.
The mill and factory are also from my imagination. There is a river near Fort Wayne that could have been used for a water wheel, but that does not mean there actually was one.
Oh! And a quick, fun historical fact. Montana became a state in November 1889, so just months after Dr. Benson told Otis he was the best doctor in the territory.
If you enjoyed this book, would you consider writing a review of it? Reviews are an author’s best friend second only to their fans who share their books with their friends. Thank you! As my friend said:
There once was a kind Christian reader
Who wanted to do something sweeter.
So she left a review
At a vendor or two
And became a new author’s cheerleader.
