About the Author

Captain Tom Bunn, MSW, LCSW, has flown many different airplanes for the Air Force and commercial companies, has developed a safety device for the F-100, worked on the first Fear of Flying program at Pan Am, and founded SOAR in 1982. He has a master’s degree from Fordham University and did postgraduate study at Gestalt Center of Long Island, the New York Training Institute for Neurologic Programming, and The Masterson Institute. He is a licensed therapist.

He has appeared on Good Morning America and Live! With Regis and Kathie Lee. News shows at CNN, FOX, and MSNBC have covered the SOAR program. The New York Times, the Boston Globe, the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and other publications have published articles on SOAR. A Newsweek magazine cover story on phobia featured SOAR. The SOAR program has been offered as part of continuing education programs at CUNY in New York City and at Fairfield University in Connecticut.
