Concrete Porch, iron railings

Frank Giorno

Concrete porch

Iron railings

Metal bolts

Spiked and twisted nails

Aluminum screen doors

With the letter G

That once announced our name

Silhouettes of children once playing

Vapourized in time

Against back alley walls

The smell of mother’s

Frittata, zucchini, eggplant with red pepper

Doused in garlic and blessed olive oil

Dissipated

Aromas now archived

In my memory along with

Drinking fathers in the underground cantina

While we the children played overhead

On the concrete porch with metal bolts and iron railings
